The Great Outdoors - Fresh Air and Wellness Breaks

Encouraging summer outings to enjoy what nature has to offer makes for some happy summer program children. Teaching physical movement, fresh air and wellness breaks, balances out the day with smiles. I know I slept well these nights. What about you?

  1. Hi Mary! It looks like everyone involved is having a lot of fun! What was the highlight of your outdoor adventure that day? A few summers ago when I worked in a program with school age children, our favourite activity was going to a stream near the school and catching and releasing tadpoles, crawfish, snails, and minnows! Some of the children preferred to stay out of the water, so they would bring notebooks and draw some of the creatures that the other children caught.

  2. The fresh air and the opportunity to be surrounded by nature looks like it helped shape this enjoyable experience you have shared. This post and these pictures make me think about how important the outdoors can be for own well being as educators as well. It looks like everyone benefited and enjoyed this experience in some way. Thanks for sharing!

  3. This excursion involved looking for shapes in nature. It was amazing how many you can find when you look for shapes along the way.
