Thinking outside of the box Thursdays: Exploring the outdoors through all senses
Children (and adults) most often explore the outdoors through touch and sight. In what ways do you or the children you work with explore the outdoors through hearing, smelling, or tasting?
How do these experiences help the
children learn and/or connect to the outdoors?
I am reminded of a walk through a
forest with children in the fall when we were overcome by the smell of rotting
apples on the ground. This turned into an exploration about the life cycle of
apples and decomposition.
